On the 24th of September 2009, Asleep in a Secret premièred in the 2009 Melbourne Fringe Festivals hub, Errol’s Upstairs. The show was an experiment in story telling but about a topic I'd rather not speak of. Tricks play a big part in this kind of un-communication. Pushed, pulled, broken, obscured, drowned. When the rules are broken what else can tricks say beond the mechanical action, or is it everything else which then talks ten times as loud?
"There's a cold purity to Asleep in a Secret that some may find offputting, but which I found enthralling" Richard Watts
"Calling this show circus themed is a stretch of the imagination." Artshub
"It was a credit to the men that by the end of the performance they seemed likeable, seeing they alienated the audience so completely so many times." Express Media
"Gellmann’s skill in is showing just how hard even the most typical of circus acts actually are, and making you feel that danger. Even if he’s just standing on a block a foot off the ground." John Bailey
